The Poetry of

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this book for business people or poets?

The simple answer is both, but primarily it is for business people, people with a career, in mid-career, searching for a career, or anyone that doesn't know what to do with themselves with respect to their working life.

Does this help me with my self-esteem too?

Because The Poetry of Business deals extensively with addressing how you will be spending the majority of your time, at work, and in your career, it will inevitably affect your self-esteem also. When you are happy doing what you do, you feel good, you gain more confidence, and it increases your self-esteem.

I have found the poem I am at, now what?

The fact that you have found yourself in the book probably means you can see where you have come from, and some options that are ahead of you. Now it is time to decide what do you really want to be doing with your life. Is it what you are doing?? If so, then make sure you are enjoying it, otherwise, take another look. If you know you are not, answer some of the questions that are on-line, and look inside of yourself. It is amazing what can happen with a simple question to yourself. Have you ever had someone ask you if you are happy, and you almost didn't know what that word meant. Happy, what do you mean by that?? If it didn't happen so frequently, it would almost be funny.

I don't understand how reading poems will help me?

After spending 20 years as an entrepreneur in the business world, it became apparent that in the work a day logic oriented, prove it to me, bottom line way of thinking, it was important that the other side of the brain get some activity. Poetry, literature, art, these are ways of activating the other side of your thinking processes, and opening up yourself to different ways of deciding. It opens a door to insights, emotions, attitudes, and goals that may have been 'out of sight, out of mind'. With this rediscovered skill, you can now approach your life with a more complete conception of your life purpose.

The pictures are funny, yet the poems often aren't, why is this?

Again, I wanted to keep both sides of the brain receptive, and by adding humor with the pictures, and the message with the poetry, you get the full impact all at once, allowing you to see things more clearly, faster.

Is everything in this site true?

Simple answer is yes. I am a real person, with those credentials, and my family members and stories did happen. It is a very important mission for me to prevent people from having to discover what they really should be doing before the mid-life affair, or sports car, or gambling binge, or accident, or heart attack, or any other 'wake up' call that shatters you from your Matrix like existence in a rude and horrifying manner.

I am not in business, will this book apply to me?

This book is targeted at anyone who is working, and are wondering of they are doing what they should be. It is also for work or stay-at-home parents, unemployed, students, retirees, literally anyone who needs an inspirational read that makes you look outside of yourself enough to work from the inside. You just need to have a desire to at least look inside to see if you are happy, satisfied and living on your purpose. Wouldn't it be a shame to have spent a complete lifetime only doing part of what you should have been.

Is this like relationship quizzes, standard answers for all?

The most powerful part about The Poetry of Business is it doesn't provide any answers. How could it?? How can anyone tell you what you need, or want or should be doing?? How can anyone get inside your head, and counsel answers out of you? It doesn't work. Top 5 ways to get your dream career... These only give you partial or in some cases absolutely wrong answers. Inside of you is a small voice just screaming. But you can't hear it. Getting quiet just lets you roll around your shopping list, or talk to yourself about how much time you are wasting right now. But everytime you do something that your little voice likes, it sends a rush through your body, and the more you detect this, the closer you will start to get to what you should be doing in your life. Try out things you think you should be doing, and then pay attention to your reaction. Only YOU have the answers, I just want you to look for them.

I am already retired, what do I care about business advise now for?

If you take a look at some of the things I have said about retirement, and you aren't leading a happy and fulfilled life, then you should be looking at this book. Are you filling your days with meaningless tasks that you put off until you were 'retired'? If you really wanted to do those things, you would have done them. Being retired doesn't mean doing all of that crap you couldn't get around to when you had a life. It isn't about killing time until you drop your body. This can be the absolutely most powerful time of your life. You have the time to learn, apply new technology, pick up that life mission that is buried deep inside, and do it until you drop. It is time to rejoice and eat every last morsel from this soup we live in. Killing time, kills you. It sends you into apathy, remorse, regret, and forget. I can't think of a better time to discover your purpose, than not at all.

I need relationship help, will this do it?

It depends on what is wrong with your relationship. Most relationships can be fixed or improved with honest and open communication. Telling each other what you have been keeping from them. It's brutal and hard sometimes, but worth it. Having said that though, if a lot of your issues stem from work, stress, late nights, money, then changing so that you are living on purpose will not only help you, but will definitely help your relationship.

How on earth does one stop what they are doing and do something else?

Once you decide on something, really want something, the universe starts to call the people you need, and you start to move barriers that sat in your way. A postulate is a decision without reservation, and you control them. When you lay all of the barriers in front of you before you even dream, how can you see past them. Start with a clean slate, send out your postulate, don't pull it back when barriers start to close in, and you will find yourself at the other end of the career you really wanted.

Are you happy?

Excellent question. You certainly would have thought by looking at me that I was happy long before I wrote this book. Like I said, I had the complete package, less the dog (I have a cat). But there was always this hole inside that I could not fill. Trips, food, cars, beaches, it wasn't working, and I was becoming very frustrated with my existence. And as I opened up more channels by first reading, and then writing, the answers came faster, the opportunities arrived, and I was finally 'happy' just by the mere discovery of my own purpose. My purpose goes far beyond this book, but without that first step, it was no where in sight.
